Discover Mildura is operated by husband and wife team Phill and Alison Stone and with the combined tally of more than 220 years of continual family farming history in the region they have a strong connection to the land and consider themselves “locals”.
Phill grew up surrounded by wheat & sheep on a dry land farm south west of Mildura. Playing wild & free in the sand dunes on the family property not realising this remnant of an inland sea would connect to one of the businesses most popular tour locations
…..the Murray River Salt operations at Mourquong NSW.
Alison was raised on a dried vine fruit property and spent her youth surrounded by lush fresh fruits and produce grown on the family farm. She has always had a strong passion for the natural world and great appreciation of the traditional owners of the land.
Discover were awarded a Certificate of Excellence in 2016 by TripAdvisor.
Murray River Salt have enjoyed a mutually beneficial partnership with Discover over the past few years. It is always exciting to get a phone call from Alison advising that she has someone new wishing to visit the salt mitigation site – for example a morning spent with Discover / Kylie Kwong beside the salt piles was so enjoyable with the outcome that Kylie Kwong included this area in her book.
Murray River Salt are keen to maintain and support Discover Tours in whatever way they can e.g. supply additional educational material on the environmental story of “Keeping Salt Out of The Murray” to give visitors a further understanding of the salt mitigation project objectives.
Any visitor taking a tour with Discover will be shown a true representation of this diverse region. Both Phill & Alison are very friendly and always accommodating to their clients.
