Murray river salt explores all things local and the fantastic dining experiences available in the region

Murray River Salt began their involvement with the local gourmet food industry in 2002 when the first “Salt Slow Food Dinner” was held at the Mourquong Salt Mitigation site. The Slow Food Movement in conjunction with Stefano De Pieri & James Broadway hosted this exciting event on the salt beds. The event was a huge success bringing some of the true food enthusiasts, journalists and photographers from both Sydney and Melbourne. For many of the people it was their first visit to this region, and in general most felt that this was unlike anything they had ever experienced. Murray River Salt then followed on with the launch of the now iconic “Pink Flake Salt” and now proudly see their salt being sold widely in Australia and overseas. Subsequent “Salt Dinners” have all been successful as miraculously the weather was perfect and the many visitors from away and in particular the city were blown away by the setting and the spectacular sunsets that occurred. Future “Salt Dinners” are being planned as always dependent upon the weather. Melbourne Food & Wine have requested an event in Autumn 2018.

It is so rewarding to see many of the local chefs, eateries and tourist outlets not only using and selling our product but actually designing recipes and signature dishes based around the salt. Murray River Salt having been attending the major Food & Wines Shows for the past ten years and have come to realize that many of the city folk know very little about this region but are eager to learn more. Our team endeavours to promote the fact that this region is a “Food Bowl” based on the edge of the Outback and capable of offering some of the best restaurant meals due to the diverse range of seasonal produce grown and available throughout the year.

The following compilation is an attempt to thank and highlight the many local chefs, quality restaurants, cafes and tourist style eateries that have supported our product. We in turn would like to make visitors aware that there are many foodie opportunities on offer in the Mildura Region that are well worth seeking out.
